Holidays


Coastal Dance and Music Academy is closed for the following holidays:



  1.     Labor Day

  2.     Thanksgiving Holiday (Wednesday through Sunday)

  3.     Winter Break

  4.     Spring Break

  5.     Memorial Day

CDMA does not pro-rate for holidays.



Absences


Dance, theater and fitness students who miss a class due to illness, injury, or approved studio closures (holidays-see above) may pick up a make-up card at the front office. Make-up cards can be used to attend any age and ability-level appropriate class (though music and dance are not interchangeable). It will be stamped one month from the date of the missed class. Please present the card to the teacher before class begins. Make-up cards expire after one month, and can be used by anyone in the family, but are otherwise non-transferable. Students on our unlimited class rate do not receive make up cards. No refunds are given for missed lessons. Private music students must give 24 hours notice to cancel a class or they will be charged. Music students may schedule a make up class through the front office.



Annual Studio Recital


Coastal Dance and Music Academy’s annual studio recital is held at the end of June. Each student is encouraged to participate, but it is not a requirement. Costumes are purchased by the student, and are reasonably priced and age-appropriate.












Schedule


Registration is still being accepted. Classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with open enrollment. Convenient after school class times are still available.


Summer classes begin in July and continue through August. We also offer a variety of Summer Camps and Intensives.

Required Class Attire


Ballet & Pointe Classes


Females

  1.        Black Leotard, ballet pink or black tights, ballet flats or pointes depending upon class.

  2.        Optional wear includes CDMA clothing or other black tank or tee, ballet skirt (no longer than mid-thigh), dance shorts, dance sweaters, and leg warmers (black or pink preferred). (All optional wear must be form fitting)


Males

  1.        Black or white men’s tights or above the knee black jazz pants or shorts, black or white t-shirt or tank, black or white ballet flats.

  2.        Optional wear includes CDMA or other shirt, dance sweater, and leg warmers (black preferred). (All optional wear must be form fitting)


Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary & Tap classes


Females

  1.        Leotard, jazz or athletic pants, dance shorts or dance capris, or ballet attire and appropriate shoes.

  2.        Optional wear includes CDMA or other form fitting clothing, dance sweaters, and leg warmers (black, white, or pink preferred).


Males

  1.        Jazz or athletic pants, dance shorts or dance capris, t-shirt or tank (white, black, or CDMA shirts preferred).

  2.        Optional wear includes CDMA or other form fitting clothing, dance sweaters, and leg warmers (black or white preferred).


Hip Hop & Fitness


Athletic wear and Converse-type shoes with flat sole, no tread. Shoes must only be worn on dance floor, never outside as this brings oil and dirt onto the dance floor.


Creative Dance & Ballet/Jazz/Tap Combo Classes


Girls

  1.        Leotard and tights or dance dress, ballet flats, and tap shoes.


Boys

  1.        Jazz or athletic pants or shorts, t-shirt, black or white ballet flats, tap shoes.


Senior Classes


  1.     Dance or athletic wear and appropriate shoes.


Music, Voice & Theater Classes


  1.        Musicians need to be neatly attired with clean hands and faces.

  2.        School wear or CDMA clothing, NO torn jeans, shirts with holes, short skirts or dresses, cropped shirts, or hats.

Dancer Etiquette


As a courtesy to your instructor and fellow students, we ask that you follow our etiquette guidelines when dancing at Coastal Dance and Music Academy. Your best behavior before, during, and after class will make you stand out as a serious and committed dance student!


  1.        Be on time. If you are late, wait at the entrance to the dance floor until your instructor invites you to join the class. Dancers who arrive more than 15 minutes late will be asked to observe the class, to avoid injuries.


  1.        Make sure your hair is pulled back and off you face.


  1.        Practice good hygiene. Avoid using perfumes or scented lotions before class, as they can irritate others.  


  1.        Gum, food, and drinks (except for bottled water) are not allowed on the dance floor.


  1.        Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floor.


  1.        Do not talk during class unless your instructor asks you to.


  1.        Do not sit down or lean against the barre or wall unless asked to do so.


  1.        If you need to leave the dance floor, wait for an appropriate time, then ask your instructor’s permission. Try not to interrupt.


  1.        Always treat your instructor and fellow dancers with respect and courtesy.


  1.        Stand behind your instructor when he or she is giving choreography or demonstrating.


  1.        Be aware of your space, as well as the space of your fellow dancers.


  1.        Be focused and open to corrections given by your teacher. You are here to learn!


  1.        Do your homework, and practice your choreography at home when asked to do so.


  1.        When possible, let your instructor know ahead of time if you will be absent.


  1.        Always strive to do your best.


  1.        Always complete any dance combination or steps you are given, even if incorrect. Otherwise, you may get in the way of other dancers, and you will definitely cheat yourself!


  1.        To show respect to your instructor and to all who have danced before you, join in clapping at the end of class.


  1.        Show pride in your studio by keeping it clean. Throw away trash and take your belongings when you leave.  


  1.        Leave all personal belongings in dressing room or cubby holes, not in viewer lounge areas or on furniture.

Your monthly tuition is based on how many class hours you attend each week as shown. Family members are grouped together for reduced rates. There are three easy ways to register:

We offer a convenient auto-pay system, which helps us be “green” and assures that your payment is on time, thus avoiding late fees. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Debit cards.


Tuition is based on a four-week month. Some months have more weeks than other months. Tuition is the same every month, no exceptions. There are no credits or cash refunds. You have the option of paying monthly tuition or per class rates of $14 per class hour.


  1. A detailed Policies and Procedure form can be mailed or picked up at the office.

  1. *Dance classes are unlimited for individuals at the $255 tuition rate(this does not apply to other family members or music students). Tuition for each class after 6 is $20 per month for dance and theater, and $60 for music.

We require a $25 registration fee per student.

  1. *NOTE: Prices shown are for classes that are one hour in length. Prices are slightly higher for classes that exceed one hour.

Studio Rental


Our three studios are available for rental at an hourly rate.  We don’t offer long term rental space.  Please call 489-5678 for details and availability.

  1. *A $10 fee is added to tuition each month for performance troupe members to cover the cost of choreography, rehearsals, and performances.
